Number 20 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Jameer Nelson has a message for whomever point guard the Magic may be courting this offseason: "I don't want to sound cocky... But it will be hell for whoever they bring in. I'm holding down my spot."

Rumored free agent targets Antonio Daniels and Earl Watson probably serve as an indication of the team's preference to keep Nelson in the role he occupied for the majority of last season -- that of the backup point guard.

Nelson started 21 games last year, averaging averaged 15.7 points, 5.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 38 minutes per game.

This would likely mean Steve Francis' full time move to shooting guard, to which Nelson said: "I hope we're in the same backcourt together... as starters."

Head Coach Brian Hill remained non-committal on the topic, saying it was too early to "predetermine" the starting backcourt, but did add that the Magic might "have yet another point guard in [training] camp."
